Govinda turns 46 today and it seems to herald a period of change in his career. The actor who has been known mostly for his David Dhawan comedies, will for a change be seen in a completely different kind of image in 2010.

Undoubtedly a very talented actor, with a terrific sense of comic timing, and an instinctive dancer, Govinda has had few opportunities in his career to do movies which have been anything other than comedies. There were a few films in his early days, family socials mostly, but he touched the peak of success only with his comedies. Hence the image of Govinda as a buffoon has persisted. But even his detractors cannot deny the fact that the man is a crowd puller and is a born performer. Trust a director like Mani Ratnam to sense the actor inside the clown and cast him in his next, ‘Raavana’. This will be one of Govinda’s major releases in 2010. Besides Mani’s film, he will also be seen in Ravi Chopra’s ‘Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai’, ‘Run Bhola Run’ and ‘Naughty@ 40′.The actor realizes that he has been slotted and typecast in his career but this time even he is wanting to break out of the mould and showcase his talent as an actor. We would like to wish the actor a very happy birthday and a great year ahead.
