Rocket Singh – Salesman of the Year

1Yash Raj Film’s ROCKET SINGH – SALESMAN OF THE YEAR is all set to release on 11th December 2009. The film marks the coming together of the CHAK DE INDIA Director/Writer combination of Shimit Amin and Jaideep Sahni in a funny and exhilarating coming off age movie, set in the new Indian economy. Ranbir has donned the get-up of a Sikh and plays the lead role of the salesman in the film. Produced by Aditya Chopra the film stars Ranbir Kapoor, debutante Shazahn Padamsee (daughter of one time Ad guru Alyque Padamsee), model turned actor Gauahar Khan, Prem Chopra, Mukesh Bhatt, D. Santosh, Naveen Kaushik and Manish Choudhari. The music and background score of the film is done by duo Salim – Sulaiman. Synopsis: Harpreet Singh Bedi (Ranbir Kapoor) has just graduated, and his marks are, well, let’s say a little embarrassing. But marks never stopped him from dreaming of an exciting and adventurous career, and they never will. He takes a deep, positive breath and dives into the world of sales, rumoured to be an ultra cool career for all smart people blocked from entering medical, engineering or business schools by brainless entrance exams. It’s everything he dreamt of, with its smooth dressing, smoother talking men and women who can sell ice to an Eskimo, dreams to an insomniac, and a lifetime mobile connection to a dying man. But soon, his idea of success begins clashing with the strange ways of these ‘professionals’ and ‘bosses’ he looked up to. ROCKET SINGH – SALESMAN OF THE YEAR is sometimes thoughtless, sometimes thoughtful story of a fresh graduate trying to find a balance between the maddening demands of the ‘professional’ way, and the way of his heart – and stumbling upon a crazy way which turned his world upside down, and his career right side up. Welcome to the world of sales boss!

This move has lot of expectations and it did well to start with but couldnt justify on the entertainment prespective in the end like it did in the beginning.. The writer and the director wanted to show some thing different and philosophical in the end and I strongly feel it didnt work out.. There is no doubt that Ranbir and his co stars acted great but at the end of the day what matters is pure entertainment for the crowd who keep certain high expectations not some thing odd which doesnt go with the reality.. I can say all they have planned is a good title song made for only promos which pulled the attention of the people and finally not screened in the theatre.. Man, a right strategy to fool around.. An average film…
